Parent Engagement
Communication
Good communication between families and staff is key. When we stay in touch, your child gets the most out of the program, and we can work together to create a safe, healthy, and engaging learning environment. Please make sure that you have downloaded and signed up for ParentSquare. If you have any changes to your phone number or email address, please let the front office know as soon as possible in order to update it in our system. You can also update it yourself in your student’s Skyward account. There will be newsletters and resources sent home regularly to keep you informed of support available to you and activities going on at school. It is important that you read this information, as there may be changes to your child’s day that you need to be aware of. Teachers and family service staff will meet with families three times during the school year to share information about your students' progress, help with resource identification, and goal setting. These conferences are mandatory.
Parent Involvement
West Valley Early Learning Center supports and encourages family involvement. There are many opportunities throughout the year to participate. From helping prepare a project to volunteering in the classroom and participating in family events. There is a mandatory background check and short training prior to volunteering. If you are interested in participating, please talk to your child’s teacher and FSC to make sure all mandatory paperwork has been completed prior to volunteering.
Family Nights
Our quarterly school family events are fun and welcoming gatherings that bring students, families, and staff together to connect, celebrate, and enjoy time as a community. These events give families the chance to laugh, learn, and play alongside their children, helping everyone feel like part of one big school family. They strengthen the bond between home and school and show children that learning is not only important, but also fun when shared with the people they love most.
